About the UniCarriers Nomad®
Very few forklifts can boast the kind of versatility that the UniCarriers Nomad® offers. It is great as an indoor lift truck, but also as an outdoor machine. Its frame is rather small, which encourages tight handling in small spaces, and it has solid tires, which makes it great for outdoor applications.
The Nomad® is available in 3,000, 3,500, and 5,000-pound capacities and works on a variety of surfaces, from warehouse floor to loading dock to service yard. It is powered by the Nissan K21 industrial engine, a low-emission engine that runs on LPG, with an optional gas/LP dual-fuel system.
Maintenance Tips
A well-maintained forklift will provide you with years of reliable and safe service. A neglected machine will break down more often, require replacement sooner, and put your operators at risk. You can keep your equipment running properly by implementing these preventative maintenance tips.
Inspect the forklift daily. In addition to being an OSHA requirement, a daily inspection of your forklift can identify potential problems that could interfere with the machine’s operation. Before every shift, check hoses, fluid levels, tire pressure and conditions, seat belt function, forks and overhead guards, and brake performance.
It is important to follow the manufacturer’s schedule for maintenance. By attending to oil changes, fluid and filter changes, spark plugs, brake and drive systems, and other systems and services, you can save yourself both money and time and also prevent major problems from occurring down the road.
Check tires often. Tires are critical for the operation of your forklift. The tires can spring leaks, deflate, lose their tread, or wear out faster on one side than another, particularly if driven over the same repetitive path around the warehouse over and over again. Under-inflated tires can result in poor traction which can cause accidents. Overinflated tires can blow out and put your forklift out of service.
To keep your forklift running smoothly, keep the battery working efficiently. The general rule of thumb is to recharge it after an eight-hour shift or when it’s discharged more than 30%. Having the right amount of water in the battery is also important for it to function at full capacity.
