About Us
Royal Forklift, headquartered in Pine Grove, PA, has served the material handling industry for over 35 years and is an authorized dealer for new UniCarriers forklifts in Berks, Lebanon, Lehigh and Schuylkill Counties.
UniCarriers has been producing best-in-class material handling equipment with 3,000 to 22,000-pound capacity in America’s heartland (Marengo, Illinois) since the 1980s. The company was formed with the merging of TCM into Nissan Forklift Corporation and the renaming of Nissan as UniCarriers Forklifts. The company also acquired Barrett Lift Trucks, one of the oldest manufacturers of electric narrow aisle forklifts, pallet trucks and jacks.
We also have partnered with Haulotte for their aerial equipment line. Haulotte was founded in 1881 and is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of people- and material-lifting equipment.
Selecting the Right Equipment for the Job
Whether you are looking for your first lift truck, replacing a piece of equipment, or expanding your fleet, the six common forklift classifications described below may help you decide on the right material handling equipment for your company.
Class I includes electric sit-down 3-wheel and 4-wheel forklifts. They can be equipped with either cushion or pneumatic tires. Cushion tires are used indoors on smooth, level surfaces. Pneumatic tires are useful outdoors and on rougher terrain. Ideal uses include loading and unloading tractor-trailer and handling pallets. Because they are battery-powered, they are much quieter than other lift trucks and produce no emissions.
Class II includes electric reach and deep-reach forklifts. The operator guides the fork to reach up and grab pallets, so they offer height that many other forklifts cannot achieve and are targeted toward picking and putting away inventory indoors. They are ideal for very narrow aisle operation and tight spaces. Most Class II forklifts are standup units, but sit-down models are also available.
Class III includes walk-behind pallet jacks, rider pallet jacks, tuggers, stand-up counterbalanced forklift, and walkie counterbalanced stackers. These lifts often come in both rider and walk-behind (“walkie”) options. Ideal uses include quickly unloading deliveries from tractor-trailers and moving loads to a staging area, as well as for short runs in smaller warehouses.
Class IV includes an LP gas powered internal combustion engine (similar to a car) and cushion tires. This sit-down forklift is meant to be used inside on smooth dry floors for moving pallets to and from the loading dock and the storage area. Cushion-tired forklifts typically ride lower to the ground than pneumatic tired forklifts, making them well-suited to low-clearance situations.
Class V includes an LP gas or diesel-powered internal combustion engine with air or solid rubber tires. This is a sit-down forklift meant to be used outside but may also be used inside large warehouses. Forklifts in this class are very versatile for different load sizes and are the most common type found in warehouse use.
Class VI includes lift trucks designed specifically for rough terrain. They have large flotation tires that make them useful on construction sites and lumber yards.
